Our Power of an Hour Jobcentre Schedule

LVN delivers our Power of an Hour programme in jobcentres in Barnet, Camden, Islington and Haringey. Simply take a look at what’s on below and choose the sessions that interest you.

You’ll need to register on the LVN app and select your jobcentre to receive your invites. Don’t forget to click accept so we know you’re coming!

We have different volunteers coming each week from a range of professions in Construction, IT, Marketing, Business/Admin and more, and we encourage you to attend as many sessions as you can.

We at LVN are very inclusive and actively promote equality

We welcome volunteers from a wide range of ethnicities and backgrounds and our rota of volunteers changes every week. All of our volunteers give their time because they want to see change. In particular, they are activity trying to increase diversity in the workplace.

We operate in a village mentality where all are welcomed and not judged. If you are a professional adult who would like to give your time, please sign up to offer your Power of an Hour here.

Careers in Finance and Accounting: A Professional’s Advice on Career Planning, CVs & Interviews

Meet Stephen, a qualified accountant with 15 years experience in finance roles, including his current role in the life sciences industry. He’s going to share his career journey, top advice and different ways into jobs in finance. He’s also keen to help out with career planning, CV writing, interview preparation and more, so make sure to come online and meet him.

Meet Gladys from Facebook to learn about sales operations. She’ll share her journey into sales, the different routes into the field and how you can get started. Have questions about working in sales, marketing or at a big tech company like Facebook? Gladys is eager to answer your questions and give advice on CVs, interviews, making the most of your experience and more.

Explore Careers in Illustration and Animation: What are the Different Routes into the Industry?

Meet Jonas, a mostly self-taught illustrator and animation artist, who works freelance in different fields including music videos and cartoons. He’s joining us to share his career journey, experience and top tips on entering this competitive, exciting industry. He’ll share his advice on design and animation software and his insight into the world of working freelance and what you need to do to stand out and get work. Don’t miss this if you’re interested in the world of animation, illustration or working freelance in any field.

For the last 10 years she’s run Pimp My Cause, connecting small charities and social enterprises with the support they need to grow. She’ll share her career journey and top advice for finding a marketing job, writing a good CV and succeeding at interview. This is going to be a great session, so don’t miss it!
