Pecan

We are a Christian charity dedicated to bringing hope to individuals and the wider community. We are committed to uplifting our local community through Kindness, Belief and Hope. We do this through providing holistic support for the local community through our projects, addressing a range of needs across our community.

We help people who face seemingly impossible barriers to find a way through, re-write their futures and flourish. We never stop believing that with the right support, people can unlock their true potential. Our mission is to restore futures and see an end to poverty in all its forms. We aim to transform lives through kindness, Belief and Hope, through practical support.

Our Programmes include:

  • Southwark Foodbank: For people on low income, a sudden crisis – redundancy, benefit delay, illness, or even an unexpected bill – can mean going hungry. Every year we give food parcels to thousands of people in the local area.
  • Hourbank: HOurBank gives people (and organisations or businesses) the chance to share skills and build community simply by helping one another. It’s a unique social group that runs on a simple time-banking system. Members of the HOurBank advertise their skills, hobbies and interests on a private, virtual noticeboard. From here, fellow members can ‘purchase’ these skills, offering their own unique abilities as payment.
  • Women’s Hubs: The Southwark and Lewisham Women’s Hubs offer safe, welcoming, one-stop-shop support for those affected by the criminal justice system, and for local women seeking support, information, and community. Our aim is to provide gender-specific and personalised support, helping to equip women with the tools and resources to address their needs in a relaxed and welcoming space.
  • Peckham Pantry: Peckham Pantry is a membership scheme that will make your money go further. ?Members of Peckham Pantry pay £4.50 per shop, which gives access to fresh fruit and veg and store cupboard favourites – to the value of £15.
