Amplify Me is a 6-week in-school group mentoring programme, facilitated by our team. Students have the opportunity to meet volunteer mentors from the world of work and complete the LVN workbook of activities.
Volunteers talk about their job roles, industries, and career journeys. Students gain confidence, employability know-how and the skills needed to make the most of future opportunities.
The final week is a trip to a real workplace to practice their networking and public speaking skills.
Volunteers can sign up to support young people for 30 minutes per session and will meet a student each session. Online mentoring takes place during school hours and term-time only.
Once trained, you will support students to complete sections of the LVN Online mentoring booklet. Mentors do not have to be an expert on any of these topics. The booklet contains advice and discussion prompts that help students and mentors work through the content together.
Our students are interested in meeting professionals from all industries and at any stage of their careers. To get involved we just need your willingness to be open about your experience and a genuine desire to listen to and help young people.
If you or your organisation are interested, please contact carly.levinson@lvn.org.uk
In line with our theory of change, we offer a speed networking approach to online mentoring which gives students the opportunity to meet lots of different professionals.
Work experience is another powerful part of a young person’s journey towards meaningful and sustained employment. Work experience gives a young person the chance to see inside a company, get introduced to a wider network, and gain experience of time at work.
With limited access to networks, the young people we work with find it difficult to secure work experience placements that are part of the school curriculum.
Students who have participated in Amplify Me can apply for the chance to receive a work experience placement with a business in the LVN network.
LVN provide facilitated and curated work experience programmes that make it easy for businesses to support a group of students. Companies who have taken part include: Fidelity International, Deutsche Bank, Trowers & Hamlins, Paragon, WPP Media, Experian, Just Group and Artemis.
If you would like to find out more about how your company could provide work experience for a young person or group of students, please get in touch.
Following on from the in-school Amplify Me mentoring programme, students are invited to receive online one-2-one mentoring.
The LVN signposting platform highlights a wide range of over 2000 opportunities, fun activities, and support services available to young Londoners. From boxing clubs to coding courses, drama clubs to sports events, there’s something for everyone. Take a look!
If your organisation provides apprenticeships, entry level jobs, or youth activities and resources (e.g. youth clubs, sports clubs, counselling), please register for an account below and apply to feature your opportunities for free.
Our signposting platform is promoted by the Mayor of London during school holidays, and we encourage the young people we work with to continue their networking journey by attending some of the many youth activities across London.
