Springboard Youth Academy

Working for newly arrived young people!

Young asylum-seekers and refugees who have made the difficult journey to the UK are saddled with many challenges common to starting a life somewhere new.

And in addition to being adversely affected by budget cuts to tailored learning provision in schools, these young people often miss their chance to progress at a natural pace and reach their fullest potential.

This is where we come in: Springboard Youth Academy bridges the gap to provide the necessary support that is lacking in the mainstream school system.

How do we achieve this?

Our programmes have three key features:

Experiential learning allows young people to learn through doing, using storytelling techniques, dramatic arts exercises and workshop-style teaching to rehearse for life.

Life skills related to settling comfortably in the UK are included in the programme. We're talking everything from how to recycle, to navigating TfL, to sexual health literacy, to understanding their legal rights and more.

Holistic support is offered to all young people in the form of counselling to improve their mental health, legal advocacy to help them access services, one-to-one mentoring to encourage pathway planning, as well as sports and field trips to boost their physical health and teamwork skills.
