Onside Youth Zone At Home

Young people need support now more than ever.

In this new reality of self-isolation, young people need support now more than ever. OnSide Youth Zones across the country are reaching out to them, letting them know they still matter and we are here for them just as we were when our doors are open.

To do this, we have created a Youth Zone at Home, mixing engaging digital content with remote one-to-one support.

Live streaming across social media platforms has enabled literally thousands of young people to get involved live with their favourite friendly youth workers, whether it be a member of staff hosting a DJ session with requests, or youth workers answering young people’s questions on a wide range of topics, with conversations over the chat functions.

Youth Workers are reaching out by phone to give support to those we know will need us most and for any young people who want to speak one to one, supporting good emotional health and wellbeing and safeguarding vulnerable young people.

Small Zoom groups are enabling us to replicate some of the high quality discussion sessions that great youth work Is built on.

Working closely with local authorities and partners to use Youth Zones as key hubs for coordinating local community responses and sharing equipment or resources, providing food and other support to the community where it is needed.
