First Rung - Traineeships


Welcome to First Rung!

First Rung have been supporting young people across North London since 1983, helping them make that first step into a good job with training and prospects. The team is passionate about delivering the very best training and personal support in a dynamic, fun and friendly environment.

Our Traineeship programme supports young people in progressing to an apprenticeship by providing them with work experience and preparing them to be job ready.

A Traineeship Includes:

  • Work placement - 4 days per week
  • 1 day at First Rung to gain the necessary skills and support to progress on to an apprenticeship
  • Access training to develop vocational and employability skills
  • Individualised advice and guidance
  • Employability support and help with CV building and interview skills
  • Guaranteed interview for an apprenticeship or job

Eligibility

  • 16-year-olds of school leaving age to 18-year-olds
  • 16–18-year-olds must not hold A Levels or other qualifications at Level 3 or above
  • Must have been continuously resident in the EU for at least the past 3 years
  • Must have ID Documents – either UK Birth Certificate, Passport or Home Office Documents
  • Childcare applicants will require a DBS check
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to work towards Level 1 in English and maths
